In regards to the compost that Ian is testing, we have our current humanure compost covered heavily with straw (bad hay actually, hay that got moldy or whatever) but it is not covered with anything (contained within 4 sides of wood ‘slats’ so the slats can be removed for easy access when compost is done) and in almost 4 years we have not had a problem with any
